AN IMPERIAL FABERGE SILVER DISH
WITH THE MONOGRAM OF
GRAND DUKE PETER NICOLAEVICH OF RUSSIA

shaped circular with ribbon-tied reeded rims interrupted by vines, engraved with the monogramm "PN" in Cyrillic of Grand Duke Peter Nicolaevich of Russia

Grand Duke Peter (Pyotr) Nicolaievich of Russia (January 10, 1864 – January 17, 1931) was the second son of Grand Duke Nicholas Nicolaievich of Russia (1831-1891) and Alexandra Friederike Wilhelmine von Oldenburg (1838-1900) On July 26, 1889 he married Princess Militza Petrovic-Njegos, (1866-1951), daughter of King Nicholas I of Montenegro. The Grand Duke and Duchess had four children. As was the custom for Russian Grand Dukes (the title applied to all sons and grandsons of a Russian Emperor) the Grand Duke Peter served in the Russian army as a Lt.-General and Adjutant-General.

"88" standard, assayer's Mark "AC" in Cyrillic for Alexander A. Smirnov and dated "1892", also with the Moscow assay mark
